In the Artists' Words
“In the Artists’ Words” is a new project being launched this year following the cancellation of shows and the consequences of the health crisis. It gives artists an opportunity to be heard – artists who should have been showing their work on stage in Brussels in February and March 2021, the time traditionally chosen for Brussels, dance! As things stand at the moment, there is little opportunity for us to hear artists and their visions. What images and ideas do they have about what the world will be like afterwards?
Eleven choreographers talk about their feelings and their impressions of the time we’re living in, which is inviting us to rethink how we operate, and what the world might look like post-Covid.
The partners of Brussels dance! are offering eleven interviews with choreographers.
Hippolyte Bohouo (invited by Le 140), Oriane Varak (La Balsamine), Ebale Zam Martino (BOZAR and Le Senghor), Eléonore Valère-Lachky (Les Brigittines), Cassiel Gaube (Charleroi danse), Francesca Saraullo (Garage29), Pietro Marullo (Les Halles de Schaerbeek), Julien Carlier (Le Jacques Franck), Vera Tussing (Kaaitheater), Ayelen Parolin (Théâtre les Tanneurs) and Thierry Smits (Théâtre Varia) give their thoughts on the current situation and allow us to enter their universe.
